The U.S. Department of Education hopes that additional counseling will help students
LAS VEGAS, Dec. 15, 2016 – The U.S. Department of Education announced today that the College of Southern Nevada will be among a select number of institutions to participate in an experiment on the benefits of additional loan counseling for borrowers.
Currently, students are only required to get loan entrance counseling once. Additional loan counseling is expected to help borrowers better understand their obligations and make more informed decisions about their debt.
“Defaulting on student loans is a nationwide problem and we welcome the chance to involve CSN in this cutting-edge research,” said Victoria Goeke, CSN’s executive director of financial aid.
