CSN Nevada Promise Mentor- Rolando Mosqueda

The Nevada Promise Scholarship is a unique scholarship established by the Nevada Legislature for Nevada high school graduates to attend community college. As a last-dollar scholarship, the Nevada Promise Scholarship can cover up to three years of tuition and other mandatory fees not covered by other gift aid.

Mentors are an important part of the Nevada Promise Scholarship and a strong support structure is key to help students find success. Meet the mentors who help provide support and guidance to students receiving the Nevada Promise scholarship at CSN.

Nevada Promise mentor Rolando M. Mosqueda is the Associate Vice President for Procurement and Auxiliary Services at the College of Southern Nevada.  In this role, Rolando is responsible for purchasing, contracting, food services, bookstore operations, print management and several additional College wide functions.

Mosqueda obtained his undergraduate degree from St. Edwards University in Austin, Texas and graduated from the William S. Boyd School of Law at UNLV.  He has been with CSN for seven years and previously held a position at UNLV.

Mosqueda enjoys spending time with his four wonderful children and will be a grandparent for the first time later this year. He is inspired the potential he sees in local high school students.

“The opportunity and privilege of mentoring in the Nevada Promise Scholarship Program has confirmed for me the amazing energy and limitless potential of high school students in the Las Vegas area,” he said. “Students I have mentored are insightful, engaged, motivated, and extremely gracious for the brief time we interact as mentor and mentee.”

Mosqueda goes so far as to credit his time as a mentor in the Nevada Promise Scholarship Program for professional and personal growth. “My sincere hope is that the encouragement and guidance I provide positively impacts the educational journey of my mentees,” he said. “The Nevada Promise Scholarship Program is a unique and indispensable platform to directly improve the readiness of aspiring college students, and I am so grateful for the honor to participate.”

CSN is seeking mentors of all backgrounds who are willing to give 3-5 hours each semester to guide the future of Nevada. Learn more at csn.edu/promise/become-a-mentor.
