College of Southern Nevada students fed more than 12,000 hungry people today.

In addition to the cash, students also donated 428 pounds of food. In all, Three Square representatives Alana Shaul and Kari Goldberg said, students donated enough food and money to provide 12,357 meals.

Wow.

Three Square works with 1,300 community partners, ranging from nonprofits to schools, to provide food to hungry people across the Las Vegas valley.

Students who donated during the food drive, which took place in the days leading up to the start of classes this semester and right after classes started on Aug. 24, were given bookstore discounts as an incentive.

The talk now among CSN officials isn’t so much about whether the bookstores will do the event again, but how to make it even bigger.

So congrats, you guys. You did good.
