CSN students win floral design awards

We just got this press release in from the American Institute of Floral Designers, and it has some great news in it. We’re rocking a top-notch floral design program here at CSN, headed by Conni Jo Casey-Harris. The picture with this post features some of their work from CSN’s recent graduation ceremony.

College of Southern Nevada Students Awarded at AIFD Design Competition

BALTIMORE (July 2014) – Adriana Cibrian Melchor and Stephanie Holst, students at the College of Southern Nevada, won honors in the American Institute of Floral Designers’ (AIFD) 2014 Student Floral Design Competition held in Chicago on July 2 as part of the Institute’s 2014 National Symposium “Transition Transformation” that took place July 3-7.

The competition consists of four categories: Arrangement, Body Flowers, Wedding and Sympathy. Holst was awarded first place in the Sympathy category and Cibrian Melchor took home the Overall Student Highest Score Award and tied for third place in the Body Flowers category.

Student AIFD (SAIFD) maintains chapters at 15 colleges and universities throughout the United States and Canada. SAIFD Chapters not only compete in the Annual Student Design Competition during AIFD’s National Symposium but also host Artist in Residence Programs throughout the year. Chapter members also receive sponsorships to attend the National Symposium from AIFD members and Industry Partners through the AIFD Foundation.

Open to the public, the 2015 National Symposium will be held in Denver, Co., June 30 – July 4.
