Planetarium Offers Viewing of Rare Mercury Event

On Monday May 9, 2016 just before sunrise, Mercury will begin to cross the face of the Sun in an event known as a transit.  The Planetarium in conjunction with the Las Vegas Astronomical Society will have safe viewing of this event at the Observatory on the Cheyenne Campus of the College of Southern Nevada from shortly after sunrise until Mercury finishes the transit at about 11:45 a.m.  Come out and see Mercury cross the face of the Sun.  The next time this event will occur is on November 11, 2019.Screen Shot 2016-05-05 at 9.45.59 AM
