Meet CSN’s Part-Time Librarians

CSN has several librarians who work at our reference desks part-time and also answer questions on our Library website through chat. You might have met them in the evening or on the weekends. Some of our part-time (adjunct) librarians also work at the public libraries, so you might recognize them from those libraries too. Over the next several weeks, we’ll be highlighting some of our part-time librarians so you can get to know them better.

Danelia Flores-Sahagun, Part-time Librarian at the West Charleston Campus

How long have you been an adjunct librarian for CSN? One and a half semesters

Is there another library where you work? Henderson Public Libraries, Adult Services Librarian

Where are you from? Portland, Oregon

Have you ever attended CSN as a student? Yes! I received my associate’s degree of General Studies in 2004 from CSN

What is the most interesting request that you have gotten as a librarian? “Where is your mango section?” The patron was actually asking, “Where is your manga section?”

Rona Johnson, Part-time Librarian at the Charleston Campus

How long have you been an adjunct librarian for CSN? Five years

Is there another library where you work? Yes, Las Vegas Clark County Library District

Where are you from? Chicago, however, I have lived in Las Vegas for almost 20 years

Have you ever attended CSN as a student? No, I attended Grambling State University undergrad and University of North Texas for the MLS

What is the most interesting request that you have gotten as a librarian? Not interesting, but strange. A patron wanted us to do her online shopping for her. She wanted us to search for the items and then she would give us her credit card info over the phone. I thought it was cute and that she was very trusting to want to give her credit card to a complete stranger over the phone.
