Meet CSN’s Part-time Librarians

CSN has several librarians who work at our reference desks part-time. You might have seen them in the evening or on the weekends. Some of our part-time (adjunct) librarians also work at the public libraries, so you might recognize them from those libraries too. Over the next several weeks, we’ll be highlighting some of our part-time librarians so you can get to know them better. Here are the first two!

Larry Johnson, Part-time Librarian at the Charleston Campus

How long have you been an adjunct librarian for CSN? One and a half semesters

Is there another library where you work? Las Vegas-Clark County Library District, Youth Services Librarian at the Enterprise Library

Where are you from? Vallejo, CA

What is the most interesting request that you have gotten as a librarian? As a full time public librarian, I always receive interesting requests. The most interesting one was when a group of mischievously smiling teens asked for the Satanic Bible. They expected me to flinch, which I didn’t. I gave them the book, and about one or two minutes later, they returned it. I’m assuming they didn’t like it.

Rachel Mainz, Part-time Librarian at the Henderson Campus

How long have you been an adjunct librarian for CSN? I think all together (at Henderson and briefly at Charleston) about 11 years.

Is there another library where you work? I also work for Henderson Public Library

Where are you from? Kansas

What is the most interesting request that you have gotten as a librarian? I love astronomy, so I’m always excited when a student comes to me for information.
